Since its debut in 1970, Art Basel has become the Modern and contemporary artworld’s premier platform for bringing together artists and their patrons in a way that is both engaging and personal. With annual art shows sited on three continents – Europe, North America, and Asia – Art Basel is the only art show with such global reach.
Modern and contemporary art of the highest quality, from classic forms to pieces by the most cutting edge experimentalists, are on display in a multi-sector format, making Art Basel a prized venue for both the artists and those who appreciate their work. Feature will present 30 galleries from 13 countries.
Among many here are a few that will present exclusive items that will definitely be remembered:
Zhu Jinshi, “Boat”
Co-presented by Pearl Lam Galleries and Hongkong Land, this public display of Chinese artist Zhu Jinshi’s Boat is a rare spectacle in our crowded urban space. Made of bamboo, cotton and more than 10,000 sheets of Xuan paper, the large installation is a spiritual experience for some – and a photo opportunity for others.
Michelangelo Pistoletto, “Partitura in Nero”
As a founder of the 1960s’ Arte Povera movement, Michelangelo Pistoletto, now 81, is best known for his Mirror Paintings. The Italian icon’s latest series – full-body portraits of a woman silk-screened onto reflective stainless steel panels – are said to incorporate the spectator. It is, in other words, a great occasion for selfies.
“Consume”, stainless steel, titanium, edition of 1 + 1AP
Chinese contemporary artist Gao Weigang employs a wide range of media, including sculpture, installation and performance that challenge the audiences understanding of his artwork.
