Published in a limited edition of 1,000 copies, this edition’s inspirations book was created around the “Elsewhere” theme and consists, as the Observatoire describes it, of “an invitation to distant inner journeys. A desire to get away and a wish for openness to the world are animating design and the art of living. Traveling coolness is looking for new lands, unseen vistas, far-off spots where adventure and wonder are at hand. Globetrotters and nomads, amblers and bushwhackers are heading out to discover the Other and sketching the shifting cartography of a mobile, fluid, cosmopolitan and more human world. Guaranteed disorientation.”
In 2002, MAISON&OBJET created an «Observatoire de la Maison» composed of trend forecasting experts like Vicent Grégoire of NellyRodi Agency, with the aim of cataloguing new trends in consumption and emerging lifestyles.
During these work meetings, the experts’ brainstorming helps define a topic as the running theme of the season. Emotions, Desires, Secret, Luxuries, Use, Intensity … the themes refer to major, all-encompassing trends and not the whims of fashion.
The theme is developed in 3 modes: the Inspirations film, the Inspirations itinerary, the Inspirations book.
The book is available only by order through +33 (0)1 44 29 02 00 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
