Top fashion designerVirgil Abloh has created a capsule collection in collaboration with Paris’s Musée du Louvre that includes tee-shirts and hoodies decorated with paintings by Leonardo da Vinci. To pay homage to Leonardo Da Vinci‘s 500th death anniversary, Virgil Abloh just took his new Off-White collection inside of the Louvre and worked with pieces that are so familiar to the ones that have visited the iconic Parisian museum. Virgil Abloh remembers the first time he visited the Louvre. Just after graduating from college, he took a trip to Paris by himself, stayed in a hostel, and, as he recalls, spent time “wandering the city for days on end.”
“Since the beginning it’s been essential to my work to prove that any place is accessible to everyone, no matter how exclusive a place is or might seem,”
The designer calls his introduction to the Louvre “the first time seeing things that I only saw in art history books. It was and still is a surreal experience knowing that those exact walls housed civilizations of art and ideas long before the present day.”
The entire design screams Louvre and the iconic Italian artist, Da Vinci. Besides the logo, there is the museum’s name on it as well as some sketches from the artist inspired by his iconic paintings.
“In doing this, I hope to inspire people to go on their laptops and do some research to find out more about what they’re seeing and wearing. To incite people to learn more about what they see here, to open this world up to them.” Virgil Abloh says.
Abloh has been an icon for luxury fashion for many years now, and many people take inspiration for him and his design brand and pay close attention to the fashion trends that the brand comes up with.
