The timepiece exhibits a notable level of attention to detail in styling and craft. As a craftsmanship masterpiece, it also comprises Louis Vuitton‘s complicated watchmaking with a confident, contemporary design combined with a first-rate calibre.
According to Louis Vuitton master watchmaker Michel Navas: “We wanted to create a watch that was more fluid and lighter – one that easily marries the wrist. (…) We use carbon layers stacked with a random chance of fibre orientation.”, producing a charming effect that contrasts with the lugs and highlights the modern watch case’s exclusive geometry.
The construction of the case of this expensive watch is really complex: the exterior is a proprietary carbon-fibre composite called CarboStratum which begins as 100 sheets of carbon fibre, which are then heated and compressed in a mould to form randomly layered strata of material. The case also increases in size at the horizontal axis and diminishes at the vertical, giving it a somewhat oblate profile. The timepiece by Louis Vuitton is a big watch with a streamlined and is crafted from ultra-lightweight materials commonly used in aeronautics. It is also created in a diamond-set version.
