Maybe your mind is already on holiday lockdown, but until the festivities set in, there are still plenty of design events that you should definitely keep an eye on!
Miami will be buzzing with artists and designers for Art Basel and Design/ Miami, plus other design events throughout the city. The World Architecture Festival will return to Amsterdam with talks by some of architecture’s biggest names, while the major design festival in Seoul is sure to attract design lovers to Korea.
Art Basel Miami
For its 18th edition, Art Basel Miami will not only showcase more US and Latin American exhibitions than you have ever seen before but will also have placed around the city multiple outdoor art installations. Art Basel showcases the best of contemporary design through its annual design events in Basel, Miami, and Hong Kong.
Artist Brian Jungen’s fascination with slicing up Nike Air Jordans began in the ‘90s after a trip to NYC. At the Miami Beach show, visit Catriona Jeffries (booth E9) to see his 2019 contemporary art sculpture.

At Art Basel Miami Beach2019, Antenna Space will pair three of Guan Xiao’s sculptures with five paintings by Allison Katz.
Design Miami happens alongside Art Basel in Miami and Basel each winter and summer. This design event is the global forum for contemporary art where you can witness the best of design and all the novelties that await to be released during the year.
At this year’s Design Miami, The Future Perfect Gallery is featuring the “Nalgona Chairs” by Chris Wolston.
Todd Merrill Studio presents Brecht Wright Gander’s Flow Series centre table at the fifteenth edition of the design event.
World Architecture Festival
Architects and designers from more than 50 countries will attend this year’s edition of the World Architecture Festival taking place December 4–6 in Amsterdam. On this year’s edition of the design event, keynote speakers include Elizabeth Diller of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Massimiliano Fuksas of Studio Fuksas, Petra Blaisse of Inside Out, and Ben van Berkel of UNStudio.
Seoul Design Festival
Now in its 18th edition, the Seoul Design Festival aims to provide a platform for Korean designers who want to enter the world stage. From December 4–8, the design event will provide an opportunity for visiting architects and designers to scout to new talent and discover what this megacity has to offer.
