This is not simply a piano. The Swan is an exquisite art piece, an important neo-classical painted and parcel-gilt Piano by Gaveau à Paris.
Gaveau is a french piano manufacturer established in 1847 in Paris by Joseph Gabriel Gaveau. The house is known for constructing high quality pianos in beautiful, finely crafted art cabinets and for its technical innovation. Gaveau is therefore known as one of the most pre-eminent piano manufacturers in the world.
A large building, including the manufacturer’s headquarters and a 1020-seat concert hall named Salle Gaveau, was built for Gaveau by the architect Jacques Hermant in 1905-1906. The concert hall, located at 45, rue la Boétie in the 8th arrondissement, is still active with classical and jazz music.
The Swan piano was created in 1925 either as a special comission or as an exhibition art piece. The remarkable gilt wood Swan headings to the legs, with their majestic out swept wings, lift this piano from the very fine to the exceptional. They appear to be unique in Gaveau’s oeuvre.
The piano takes aesthetics and exquisite sonority to a whole new level. The Swan is probably one of the most beautiful limited edition design creations in the world and we love it! It is a statement art piece that will look amazing in any classical luxurious interior design setting.
