50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra 427
Going on sale starting January 13, 2015 is the Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra 427, one of the most iconic cars in automotive history.
Of all the Cobra variants the 427 Semi/Competition or S/C is the most desirable series. Built from Shelby’s competition production line, these were purposeful race cars that were prepared at the last minute for the road.
To celebrate the 50th year anniversary of the car that most Shelby fans have been waiting for, it was created a Limited Edition. Shelby American will offer a limit of only 50, 427 anniversary Cobras. Customers could choose from an aluminum or fiberglass bodies, and choose from Polished aluminum (with or without brushed stripes) or Guardsman blue with Wimbledon white stripes. Each vehicle will come with special gold 50th anniversary badging, logos and features.

The fiberglass-bodied cars will only be offered inGuardsman blue with Wimbledon white stripes. The company has reserved a block of CSX serial numbers for this series: CSX4550 – CSX4599. An anniversary badge will be included stating 1 of 50 / 2 of 50 and so forth. All come with a unique Shelby issued MSO and place in the registry.
In its November 1965 issue, Car and Driver tested the then-new $7,000 Cobra 427 and found it would accelerate to 60 mph in a truly ludicrous 4.3 seconds, hit 100 mph in just 8.8 seconds and shred the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds at 118 mph. The magazine claimed the car would accelerate from a dead stop to 100 mph and then brake to a dead stop again in just 14.5 seconds.
