Moncler Genius is known for flamboyance and extravaganza. The design brand follows its motto by heart and never even goes an inch away from it when it comes to coming up with new luxury fashion creations that will make turn the world’s heads.
Faithful to its motto: one house, different voices, Moncler genius continues presenting diverse, vibrant, and bold collaborations with some of the world’s best contemporary designers.
Since its inception, the Moncler genius project has asked luxury fashion designers coming from diverse cultures to create capsule collections inspired by the iconic Moncler puffer jacket. for his collection, London-based designer Richard Quinn visited the retro-futurism of the sixties.
With clear influences like Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: a space odyssey and twiggy, the modern design collection perfectly blends maximalism, bold colours, and couture shapes. of course, Quinn’s flower prints — part of his design DNA — were not left behind.
‘I was really interested in the idea of what the future looked like in the past, especially in the 1960s. It was very 2001: a space odyssey-mood inspired. I really wanted the prints to be very retro and bold. the shapes and techniques [were also elements] we really wanted to push, for example, the chain mail, the faux fur and how we applied the down.’ Richard Quinn told Vogue Australia about Moncler’s new luxury design collection.
Daisy, rainbow and zebra prints emerge from this void, in typical puffer Moncler form defined by huge skirts cinched to the body. overall, and as the fashion design brand itself states it, this collection is ‘an otherworldly exploration of uncontrolled prints clashed against a cinematic setting.’
