Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II’s Cars Are up for Auction
Tough the northern hemisphere is officially past the season for cross-country road trips, a Silverstone Auctions motor show in Birmingham might get you in the automobile-buying spirit. Among the cars it’s offering are two royals’ wheels: Princess Diana’s 1994 Audi convertible and Queen Elizabeth II’s Bentley.
Are you a car enthusiast who can’t get enough of the royal family? On November 14, at the Silverstone Auctions motor show in Birmingham, England, Princess Diana’s 1994 Audi convertible will be auctioned off to one lucky buyer. It is expected to sell for $62,000 to $75,000. The car—the first one Diana purchased after separating from Prince Charles in 1992—has a mere 4,000 miles on it.
A fixture in tabloid magazines, the princess was often photographed taking her two children, Princes William and Harry, for a drive or heading to the gym in the car.

In keeping with the royal theme, the auction will also feature a Bentley once owned byQueen Elizabeth II. The vehicle has undergone some changes since ushering the queen around London—namely, it no longer has special security features. It does still have Kevlar-reinforced tires, however, and the Home navigation button on the dashboard still shows the driver the quickest route to Windsor Castle—just in case.

A Rolls-Royce Phantom first owned by Sir Elton John will also be on the block. At almost any other auction, a car that once belonged to the creator of “Rocket Man” would steal all the headlines. But even music royalty can’t top the real thing.
