Presented as the ‘Rolls Royce of smartphones’, Solarin is the world’s most expensive smartphone. Launched by Israel startup Sirin Labs, this expensive gadget costs $14,000. Today, Design Limited Edition tells you 10 things you must know about the smartphone which promises to combine a luxurious design with high-performance components, advanced security and support for technologies that have not reached the mass market yet.
The handset is designed for those who travel a lot, require sophisticated security, want an exclusive look, and can pay hefty sums of money. The price of the Solarin starts from £9500 ($13,688) without tax, but the company has alluded that it can build versions that are much more expensive using rarer materials.
The company claims that Solarin is the world’s ‘most secure’ Android smartphone. According to the company, Solarin offers “the most advanced privacy technology, currently unavailable outside the agency world.”
Solarin runs on 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, comes with support for 24 bands of LTE, and promises “far superior” Wi-Fi connectivity than standard mobile phones.

Solarin has a 5.5-inch Gorilla Glass 4-protected IPS screen with LED 2K resolution. The smartphone runs on heavily skinned Android 5.1 operating system.
The smartphone features a 23.8-megapixel rear camera, with laser autofocus and industry-leading four-tone flash, plus a front-facing flash. There’s an 8-megapixel front camera with flash and electrical image stabilization.
Solarin is surely not a sleek smartphone, it weighs as much as 250gm. It measures 78mm wide x 159.8mm x 11.1mm..
Solarin packs a 4,000mAh battery and has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage. The company claims talk-time of 31 hours (UMTS) and standby time of ‘over 2 weeks’ for the smartphone. It also comes with Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 support.

The smartphone comes in four color options: Fire Black Carbon Leather with Titanium, Fire Black Carbon Leather with Diamond-like Carbon, Fire Black Carbon Leather with Yellow Gold and Crystal White Carbon Leather with Diamond-like Carbon.
Solarin is water/dust resistant up to IP54 level.
Solarin smartphone is available on its own flagship store in London’s Mayfair neighborhood, and will go on sale at Harrods from on June 30. The company also plans to open additional retail stores across Europe, North America, and Asia later in the year.
The Sirin Labs Solarin is based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 application processor and comes with a 5.5” IPS display with 2560×1440 resolution, 120% sRGB color gamut as well as curved Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
