Design Highlights from the IMM 2019 Cologne
IMM 2019, a leading trade fair for furniture and design, showcased interior decorating ideas during the 14th until the 20th of January in Cologne, Germany. Providing such comprehensive exclusive and luxury furniture with a very contemporary design, this trade fair welcomed with open arms many international brands, market leaders and trend-setters.
IMM 2019 just closed its doors last night. Being the first trade fair of the year, the expectations were high: the 2019 interior design trends were presented by the most exclusive and active luxury brands in the world.
This prestigious design exhibition and event presented the new international furniture and interior trends and surprised visitors with numerous market-ready innovations. This event also provided an effective platform for up-and-coming designers. Besides this, a lot of trade visitors appreciated its distinct business atmosphere and high standards of service and organization.
Speaking of lighting effects, Scholle Debuzer had the same idea as Reflex. However, in some parts, the highlight went to the lighting piece itself, while on others the colors reflected by the light definitely made the scene.
Once again Flexform showed that it still retains the values commonly associated with the brand: the restrained elegance, its coherent design style, as well as the timeless beauty of its products, combined with the unparalleled comfort.
Zanotta gave an eye-catching touch to their stand with their personalized wallpapers next to their furnishings. Their couches, tables, and chairs were all placed by walls personalized with typewriters, vinyl records, and fronts of cars.

During one week in close association with a huge programme of events in the city of Cologne, the IMM 2019 was the international epicenter of the modern furniture and design world. Luxury furniture brands like Boca do Lobo returned to IMM Cologne 2019 and broadcasted a new expression of the most elegant and powerful home design. Surrounded by haute craftsmanship and art, Boca do Lobo presented a strong showing with some stunning new modern furniture pieces with exclusive design, in Hall 11.1 Stand D055.
B&B Italia, a luxury brand founded in 1966 by Piero Ambrogio Busnelli, was one of the top leading Italian companies presented in this international interior design tradeshow. Their stands were always a big attraction at this event.
This year’s edition, IMM 2019 chosen the Australian designer couple Truly Truly to win the Das Haus designer, who has captivated many in the design industry since their firm’s formation in 2014. With the blank slate of a 600-square-foot booth, these designers determined the installation’s layout and structure while also choosing materials, colors, finishes, furniture, and accessories. Studio Truly Truly developed by them was one of the best attractions of this fair.
The designer Ilja Huber won first prize at the IMM 2019 Cologne’s Pure Talents Contest with his lamp “Baschnja” that is made of three elements that can be placed together or as separate units anywhere in a room.
Nendo is a Japanese designer who discovered that by slumping fluid glass sheets over steel pipes and allowing it to drape under its own weight, the glass essentially shapes itself. This idea was the inspiration for Melt Collection that was shown for the first time at the IMM 2019. Melt Collection is a group of modern furniture and tabletop objects that it’s made in transparent and colorless glass.
