Filigree is a delicate kind of jewellery metalwork, usually of gold and silver, made with tiny beads or twisted threads, or both in combination, soldered together or to the surface of an object of the same metal and arranged in artistic motifs. As an ancient technique to create sophisticated pieces, Boca do Lobo also created one of the most striking pieces of its collection: the Filigree Mirror.
The Filigree Mirror by Boca do Lobo resorts to one of the oldest jewellery making techniques known, the filigree. Completely handcrafted, with each brass cord fitted with precision, the Filigree Mirror flourishes in a shape traditional to Portuguese culture and art. A true work of art, this luxurious mirror plays tribute to Boca do Lobo’s core values heritage and craftsmanship. The Filigree mirror’s structure is made from brass cords, gilded in 18k gold. This piece by Boca do Lobo features a brass sheet which is hand-hammered to achieve its concave shape.
“There are only 12 filigree artists in Portugal, so we are very proud to have one of this special and gifetd people on our production team.”
